Important Information for Patients

– We accept patients for only one problem at a time.
– You can only get a consultation if we specialize in your problem.
– Each problem needs its own consultation.
– No acupuncture will be given without payment for a consultation first.
– Having a consultation does not guarantee that you will get acupuncture. You may referred to the emergency department, or urgent care if medically necessary.
– Consultation and evaluation fees are different depending on the problem and other things.
– Acupuncture fees are also different depending on what needs to be treated.
– You might get other treatments besides acupuncture, and those have extra costs.

Other Important Rules:
– You cannot ask for your own lab tests, imaging (like X-rays), supplements, or just “try acupuncture” without following our plan.
– If you don’t follow directions, you will no longer be treated at our clinic.
– Only patients who are a good fit for primary care will get primary care services.

Payments:
– Patients must pay for all services.
– We accept Credit Cards, HSA, and FSA.
– No superbills are provided.
– Insurance billing is only offered to Kaiser doctors and surgeons who have Meritain insurance— and they will still have to pay some costs themselves (deductibles, copays, and co-insurance.

Acupuncturist Fees

Acupuncture and Electro-Acupuncture have different costs.
It’s just common sense: treating a hurt ankle does not cost the same as treating someone who cannot move their foot (paralyzed).

Important:
– Acupuncture fees are only for acupuncture, and they are billed every 15 minutes.
– The acupuncture fee does not include anything else, like:

– Nutrition advice
– Talking about emotions, obtaining emotional support
– Moxibustion (special warming treatment) — this has an extra cost
– Reviewing or recommending supplements and herbs
– Meditation, stress management, or mindfulness lessons
– Teaching you how to care for yourself at home

If you need to message the doctor directly, you will use a system called OhMD. Your credit card will be kept on file to pay for these services.

Other important notes:
– Any service not listed here will have a separate cost.
– If you miss your appointment or cancel late, you still have to pay the full price.

Extra things that cost more:
The following are not included with regular acupuncture and cost extra:

– Getting ready to see you, like checking your test results
– Talking about your medical history
– Doing a physical exam
– Giving advice or teaching you or your family
– Ordering tests
– Talking with other doctors
– Writing notes about your visit
– Understanding and explaining your test results
– Helping coordinate your care
– Consultations: Talking about new problems and treatment options
– Re-Evaluations: Checking how your treatment is going
– General Questions: If you ask questions that need the doctor’s careful answer
